DTF sits between: moderate consumables, high substrate flexibility, and the ability to batch-print transfers for later pressing smooths production. All three need a quality heat press — budget it from day one, not as an afterthought.

Durability and quality trade-offs

Sublimated prints outlast the substrate — no hand-feel, no cracking, but only on light polyester/coated goods. DTG prints on cotton feel softest and handle photographic gradients best; wash durability is good with proper curing. DTF transfers feel slightly more present on the fabric but survive washing impressively and hold colour on darks without pretreatment.
