The BT508 measures battery internal resistance (impedance) and conductance using an AC injection test that does not require disconnecting the battery from the load — allowing in-service testing of individual cells and entire battery strings while the system remains live. Battery internal resistance is a leading indicator of battery degradation: a battery with rising impedance relative to its rated or baseline impedance is approaching end-of-life before the battery voltage begins to drop under load.
