The LoZ mode is the defining differentiator — when placed across a de-energised circuit, the low-impedance input mode draws enough current to collapse ghost voltages induced by capacitive coupling from adjacent live conductors, allowing the electrician to definitively confirm a circuit is dead before working on it. Without LoZ, a standard high-impedance DMM can display several volts on a dead circuit from capacitive pickup alone — creating uncertainty about whether the circuit is truly isolated. True-RMS measurement handles the distorted waveforms common in commercial building circuits with LED lighting and VFD-driven HVAC equipment.
